A memorial page is a dedicated online space where you can honor and remember your loved one. It allows you to share photos, stories, and memories, while also providing a platform for friends and family to offer their condolences and support.

To create a memorial page, you can sign up for a free account on Withpema and follow these steps:

Click "Create Memorial Page"

Enter key details — name, date of birth, date of passing, tribute or obituary info.

Toggle Funeral details switch if you already have the funeral or memorial service details. Otherwise you can fill them later.

Enable fundraising if you'd like to receive donations, and set a goal or budget (optional).

Add a WhatsApp group invite link to get instant donation and update notifications.

Click "Save"

Creating and sharing a memorial page is free.
For donations, we deduct a small 3.5% platform fee plus standard payment processing fees (e.g. card transaction fees) to cover the cost of running the platform.

Our crowdfunding feature allows friends and family to contribute financially to help cover funeral or memorial costs. All donations are transparently tracked and managed through our secure platform, with clear visibility of funds raised and their intended use.

Once your memorial page is Verified and you've raised at least KSh 250, you can withdraw funds at any time.

Withdrawals can be sent directly to your mobile wallet (M-PESA) or bank account:

M-PESA withdrawals are processed within 30 minutes to 4 hours, Monday to Saturday, between 9AM and 8PM.

Bank (EFT) transfers may take longer depending on your bank's processing times.

You can withdraw multiple times as long as your account is verified and available balance meets the minimum threshold.

To start withdrawing funds from your memorial page, your account must go through a simple verification process. This helps prevent fraud, protect donors, and ensure that funds are not misappropriated.

Here's how to verify your account:

1. Complete Identity Verification (KYC):

You'll be asked to verify your identity using your National ID or Passport and a live selfie, powered by our secure KYC partner.

2. Upload Proof of Death:

Submit any one of the following documents to confirm the authenticity of the memorial:

Death Certificate

Official Death Notice or Burial Permit

3. Add Withdrawal Details

Provide a valid M-PESA number or bank account where donations should be sent.

Once all steps are complete, we'll review and verify your page — usually within minutes.

Card donations are only available to verified memorial pages

You'll be notified via SMS or WhatsApp once verification is successful and fund withdrawal is activated.

Withpema is free to set up and share. When you receive donations through your memorial page, we deduct a small platform fee of 3.5% to help keep our services running. Additionally, payment processing fees (charged by card service providers) may apply depending on the payment method used. Check our pricing page for more details.

Yes! You can invite multiple people to help manage the memorial page. We support different roles like Admin, Secretary, and Treasurer, similar to traditional funeral committees. This makes it easier to collaborate and share responsibilities. You can also assign signatory roles to members that are allowed to initiate or approve funds withdrawals

Yes, we take data security very seriously. All personal information and donations are protected with industry-standard encryption. We never share or sell your data with third parties.
